HOMESTORY: Intimate living atmosphere in the bathroom thanks to our made-to-measure honeycomb blinds
A look into the bathroom design by Sabrina from the Instagram channel @hof_no47
Our high-quality DUETTE® custom-made honeycomb blinds offer many useful functions and are ideal as privacy screens in the bathroom. After doing her own research, Sabrina also decided in favour of honeycomb blinds from MHZ.
A home that looks back on over 800 years of history - together with her partner, Sabrina renovated the old farmhouse of her ancestors near Munich and designed it in the style of "Nordic Minimalism", a mix of Scandinavian furnishing style and minimalism. For more privacy and to match the simple style, made-to-measure DUETTE® honeycomb blinds from MHZ were integrated into the master bathroom and guest bathroom as part of the bathroom design.
On her Instagram channel, Sabrina regularly lets her followers participate in the expansion and design of her farmstead and provides insights into her lovingly designed living spaces.
Bathroom design
Matching with the overall design in the house, neutral natural tones are predominant in the bathrooms. The dark grey marble tiles in the shower provide an exciting contrast. Brass-coloured accents in fittings and window handles round off the mix of materials.
Why MHZ DUETTE® honeycomb blinds?
More privacy
First and foremost, Sabrina wanted more privacy through a privacy screen at the window and initially installed plain white curtains. One major disadvantage is that the windows are completely covered by the curtains, so less light enters the room and at the same time the view to the outside is denied. In addition, curtains in the bathroom often attract moisture and there is a risk of mould growth.
"After the flop with the curtains in the bathroom, we compared many alternatives for privacy protection and from our point of view MHZ simply has the best products in terms of quality, appearance and function."
— Sabrina
Made-to-measure honeycomb blinds
They found what they were looking for in our custom-made honeycomb blinds. The freely sliding MHZ DUETTE® honeycomb blinds allow the degree of coverage of the window to be individually adjusted and offer the option of protecting only the upper or lower part of the window from outside views. Even when closed, the room is still filled with daylight, with the honeycomb structure ensuring an even incidence of light.
"We've been looking for the perfect solution for a long time, as we like to have privacy in the bathroom in particular without always having to use the shutters, and we're now super happy with it."
— Sabrina
Saving energy
Honeycomb blinds in particular offer an additional energy-saving advantage: the honeycomb-shaped hollow chambers keep out heat in summer and cold in winter.

Sustainability
The RELIFE fabric Sabrina and her partner chose is sustainable and made from 40 per cent recycled PET bottle granulate. In addition, the fabric quality is Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and Cradle to Cradle® Bronze certified. The white operating rails and the slightly warm-white fabric blend discreetly into the room, while adding texture and warmth.
Installation methods
The glazing bead support mounting method is mainly used for windows with particularly narrow window frames. The holder for the honeycomb blind is screwed into the joint of the glazing bead on the window sash. Of course, DUETTE® honeycomb pleated blinds can also be attached to windows without drilling or screwing. In that case, pleated blinds that can be glued or clamped offer a great alternative.

What is Nordic Minimalism?
A look into Sabrina's rooms shows: The furnishings are rather simple and minimalistic. You can find influences of the Scandinavian furnishing style and minimalism. The main characteristics are simplicity, quality and sustainability. Many light natural tones such as white, beige and grey in combination with high-quality furniture made of wood tones create a clear yet cosy look. When it comes to decoration, less is more. A few selected accessories such as vases, candle holders, cushions or woollen blankets bring texture and life to the living spaces.
